What the heck is shadow work?
First philosophized about by Carl Jung, the “shadow” refers to the darker side of our human nature and personality we so often try to avoid. Doing shadow work looks like being honest enough to own the mistakes you’ve made, brave enough to reflect on where that might be coming from, forgiving enough to love yourself despite your flaws and fractures, and strong enough to say sorry and try again. Most importantly, it’s doing this over and over and over again—as many times as it takes–until you have transmuted your darkness into light. Basically, it’s dealing with all the messy and uncomfortable stuff no one wants to talk about. It may seem woo-woo, but it works.
